Version 3.0 of LUTs Color Grading Packages is Live

Hey folks!

Our best and biggest release yet is live and available for immediate download. Version 3.0 of LUTs color grading packages brings a host of new features all of which are designed to help you get better color grades more easily. The update is available for immediate download from My Account. Download the color grading package in your account to update to the latest version.

Over the past few months we’ve been working real hard on creating the new version of our LUTs color grading packages. Our most important mission was re-writing the color science for improved 8-bit footage compatibility. Early on in the process we decided we could do more. We decided we could improve many of the LUTs, and once we began doing that, we decided it would be best if we simply created new LUTs with all-new creative looks. Version 3.0 was born. An all-new version of color grading packages that brings a host of completely new color grading LUTs which we’re truly proud of.

Version 3.0 also introduces a whole new LUTs category – Cinematic Base Grade. The 3D LUTs in this category emulate the characteristics of motion picture film stocks and serve as a high quality cinematic starting point for further color grading. Color science behind these LUTs has been tuned to deliver film stock-like colors and contrast response while maintaining enough room for further color grading and adjustments. If you ever wanted your videos to appear more film-like without looking over graded, these 3D LUTs are for you.

Here are two quick before and after images graded using LUTs from the new Cinematic Base Grade category:

Additional two features in version 3.0 that I really like are DaVinci Resolve DRX power grade files (Professional Package only) and LUTs JPG galleries. While fairly minor features, these features greatly simplify the workflow and make working with LUTs faster. From now on, you can import DaVinci Resolve DRX power grades into DaVinci Resolve and easily preview all of the LUTs in the package and apply them more easily.

LUTs JPG galleries are pretty self-explanatory but nonetheless super useful. Simply open the appropriate folder of JPGs to view the LUTs in action. Time to select appropriate LUT as a starting point cut in half right there.
